Invisalign (clear aligners)

Clear aligners (including Invisalign) Invisalign are custom, plastic teeth aligners that slowly straighten teeth without wires. They are practically invisible, removable and don’t interfere with eating, brushing or flossing. Invisalign is suited best for adults and teenagers with crooked/crowded teeth or teeth with uneven spaces. Invisalign can also help fix over/under bites and crossbites.

The aligners have to be worn 20 – 22 hours a day to work at their best, and new aligners are prescribed every 1-2 weeks.

At Grand Dental we use Clearcorrect. Clearcorrect is the clear and simple alternative to conventional fixed braces. It is a series of clear, custom made, removable aligners that gradually move your teeth to the ideal position. Because they are clear, the treatment is invisible to most people. And as they are removeable, you have the comfort of taking the out before eating whatever you like.

How much do they cost?

The cost varies depending on the individual. In Australia, for a standard 18 month treatment costs can look like these:

Type Cost
Ceramic braces $6,000 – $8,500
Traditional metal braces From $5000 to $8,000
Lingual braces (single arch) From $7,500
Lingual braces (full treatment) From $12,500
Clear braces (Invisalign) $2,000 – $9,000

Do I need braces?

People of all ages can require brace for many different reasons. Some may have issues with their teeth that they need to fix, while others may simply desire a straight and beautiful smile. You might consider braces if you have:

  • Crowded or crooked teeth
  • Gapped teeth
  • An over/under bite
  • A crossbite
  • An incorrectly positioned jaw.

Braces can also improve your overall oral health, as when the teeth are straight, it is easier to take care of them and prevent any food from becoming stuck.

What are the benefits of having braces?

Other than achieving a beautiful smile, braces can also provide various other benefits such as:

  • Chewing function is improved
  • Teeth are easier to clean and maintain – reducing the risk of other oral problems
  • Breath is improved
  • Risk of tooth wear is reduced
  • Less stress on jaw joints

How often will I need to get my braces adjusted?

Usually patients are seen every 4-8 weeks, but it depends on your needs and the stage of your treatment.

Are there alternatives to braces?

Depending on your issue and goals, there are different options available. For example, for a small gap in your front teeth, dental bonding can be an option. You can discuss this with your dentist and decide whether or not braces are a suitable option for you.
