No longer are crowns made of any metal, Grand Dental offers full ceramic crowns to revive a single tooth or multiple crowns to rejuvenate your smile.
All ceramic crowns allow us to mimic nature and achieve a natural-looking restoration. These crowns are made with Dr Max’s ceramist, so we can customise and personalise the crown to be harmonious with your other teeth. It looks so natural that no one will be able to tell its not a real tooth.
Dental Crowns FAQs
Teeth with large fillings pose a threat and risk of tooth fracture in the future making the tooth unrestorable. Cracks may also be present in these particular teeth. Molar teeth with previous root canal treatments are also vulnerable to fracture as they become brittle. Whichever the case, Dr Max will identify the situation to you and recommend a crown to protect the existing tooth structure, so you will be able to keep your teeth for a longer time.
Crowns are a delicate combination of art and science. They are hand made by our ceramist and endless characteristics can be tweaked to best match your smile. If you are looking for a smile makeover, Dr Max can discuss with you how ceramic crowns can create a brilliant smile you can be proud of.
If you think you may need a ceramic crown or have any questions, please contact us.
At your first appointment for a Ceramic Crown, local anaesthesia will be used for numbing the tooth and the surrounding gums. Dr Max will prepare the tooth conservatively to create room for the ceramic crown. We need a minimum of 1-2mm thickness of ceramic for strength.
Once the tooth is prepared, an impression or mould is taken. This allows our ceramist to custom make the crown to the shape and contour of your natural teeth. At this stage, we will take the time to show you different shades of ceramics available and to select one which best suits your tooth.
During the time the crown is being finalised, a temporary crown is fabricated and seated onto the prepared tooth. The purpose of a temporary crown is to seal the prepared tooth from sensitivity and to ensure the shape of your gums are maintained.
The ceramic crown is usually ready to be seated within 2 weeks. We will remove the temporary crown and assess the fit of the final crown. If the fit is perfect, the ceramic crown is bonded onto the tooth. A dental X-ray will be taken to confirm the fit and bonding of the crown. You will be provided with all the necessary instructions to take proper care of your new crown.
If you suffer from problems that affect the appearance of your teeth, ceramic veneers may be your calling. Chipped edges, discolourations, crooked or gaps between your teeth are commonly addressed conditions with veneers. And sometimes, veneers may also be an option instead of braces.
These ceramic veneers are precisely thin and made to fit intimately to your existing teeth. As they are thin, very little of your tooth has to be prepared and is a conservative approach for a glistening difference. The ceramic material we use is of ideal aesthetics and is handcrafted by Dr Max’s ceramist. Its shape, colour, translucency, and gloss are all adjustable to your style and desire. Dr Max will place great detail to ensure your veneers will cohere with your facial features and personality. Since ceramics are stain resistant and durable, they can be made to rejuvenate your smile for countless years.
